Pyongyang - Mount Myohyang - Kaesong

DAY 1 (Friday):

BEIJING
Meet at the tour company office in Beijing and receive a briefing about North Korea.

Day 2 (Saturday):

BEIJING - PYONGYANG
Take a three hour flight from Beijing to Pyongyang. Meet your tour guide and depart for a visit of the Mansudae Grand Monument, two giant statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il. Visitors are expected to lay flowers at the feet of the statues. See the Triumph Arch, 6 metres higher than the French monument it was modelled on. It was built in 1982 to commemorate independence from Japan after the Second World War. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

Day 3 (Sunday):

PYONGYANG
Visit the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, which is the mausoleum of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and a folk village in Pyongyang. Walk in Moranbong Park see how the locals enjoy their day off and perhaps see some North Koreans dancing. In the afternoon, visit Mangyongdae, the birthplace of Kim Il-sung, a typical Korean peasant house with a thatched roof and a block of living rooms. See the modern subway system, the Pyongyang Metro, in action. After dinner, walk to the amusement park in Kaesong. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

DAY 4 (Monday):

PYONGYANG - MOUNT MYOHYANG
Ride the elevator up to the top of the Juche tower, the highest stone monument in the world. View the 50-metre high Monument To the Founding of the Party which features the hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush symbolising the workers, farmers and intellectuals. Visit the Mansudae Art Studio founded in 1959. It is one of the largest art production centres in the world employs around 4,000 people, 1,000 of whom are artists picked from the best academies in North Korea. In the afternoon, drive to Mount Myohyang, an area of great natural beauty. Enjoy walking on mountain trails as you visit the Buddhist temple. Spend the night in Mount Myohyang.

Day 5 (Tuesday):

MOUNT MYOHYANG - PYONGYANG
Visit the International Friendship Exhibition where thousands of gifts given to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are stored. In the afternoon, return back to Pyongyang, visit a Schoolchildren’s Palace where talented children are trained in the arts. Play a game at the Gold Line Bowling Alley. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

Day 6 (Wednesday):

PYONGYANG
Visit the Great House of People's Study, the Korean Central Art Gallery, the Foreign Languages Bookstore and the Kim Il Sung Square. In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, the USS Pueblo and the Pyongyang Film studio. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

Day 7 (Thursday):

PYONGYANG - KAESONG
Drive to Kaesong via the dam of the West Sea of Nampo and the Kuwol Mountains. Visit the tomb of King Kongmin, a 13th century royal tomb nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend a night in Kaesong Minsok where you will sleep on a floor heated in the traditional way.

DAY 8 (Friday):

KAESONG - PYONGYANG (2.5 hour drive)
Take the six-lane Reunification Highway down to the DMZ, the demilitarized zone near the border with South Korea. Visit the Paradise store and be hosted to a farewell dinner in a duck restaurant. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

DAY 9 (Saturday):

PYONGYANG - BEIJING
Leave Pyongyang by train around 10am. Travel via the Sinuiju North Korean customs point and crossing the Chinese border at the city of Dandong. The train continued towards Beijing. Spend the night on the train.

DAY 10 (Sunday):

BEIJING
Arrive at the Beijing Railway Station around 8.30am.
