Qingdao, a port city and seaside resort, is located on the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula. It is a very popular destination with Chinese tourists but what has made Qingdao world famous is its beer. Qingdao, formerly known as Tsingtao, was a German concession at the beginning of the 20th century. It was during this period that the extensive port and brewery were established.
