Beijing - Xian - Guilin – Shanghai

DAY01:

BEIJING
Arrive in Beijing. Visit Jingshang Park and behold a panoramic view of Beijing City including the golden roofs of the Forbidden City. Visit the Temple of Heaven to discover the role played by the Emperor in ensuring harmony among his empire. Walk through the Liulichang Antiques District, discovering the traditional arts of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Spend the night in Beijing.

DAY02:

BEIJING
Visit the largest square in the world, Tiananmen Square. See an example of the city’s modern architecture with the National Performing Arts Centre. Visit the Forbidden City, the imperial palace of Chinese Emperors for nearly 500 years. Wander through rooms once filled occupied by emperors, empresses, eunuchs and concubines. It remains the largest and best preserved attraction in China. Eat a typical Beijing meal for lunch. Take a rickshaw ride down the small alleys of the old town, known as the Hutongs. In the afternoon, visit the Lama Temple, a Tibetan Buddhist temple and the Temple of Confucius. In the evening, you can learn about China’s traditional martial arts at a Kung Fu Show. Spend the night in Beijing.

DAY03:

BEIJING
Drive to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Visit this symbol of China which stretches over 6,700 kilometres and defied the test of time. You have a choice of reaching the top of the wall by cable car or by foot. The adventurous among the group can come down by toboggan run. In the afternoon, visit the imperial tombs of the Ming Dynasty Emperors. In the evening, taste the most famous culinary specialty of Beijing: Peking Duck. Spend the night in Beijing.

DAY04:

BEIJING - XIAN
Walk along the quiet avenues of the Summer Palace. Admire the architecture of the 2008 Beijing Olympic venues: the Bird's Nest Stadium and Water Cube Aquatics Centre. You have a free afternoon to stroll the Wangfujing Shopping District or the 798 Contemporary Arts District. In the evening, be amazed by a Chinese Acrobatics performance. Take the overnight train to Xian.

DAY05:

XIAN
Arrive in Xian. Check into your hotel before heading out sightseeing. Visit the three tombs of the massive Qin Dynasty Terracotta Army. Return to the city and walk the City Wall. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After dark, view an impressive lights and fountain show in front of the pagoda. Spend the night in Xian.

DAY06:

XIAN - GUILIN
Visit the ancient Bell and Drum Towers. Each tower has regular musical performances. Wander the streets discovering unique snack food and souvenirs on the streets of the Muslim Quarter. Or get away from the crowds within the serenity of the Grand Mosque. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Spend the night in Guilin.

DAY07:

GUILIN
Cruise the Li River and take in the majestic mountains. Enjoy a Chinese feast as you watch the scenery slip by. Walk the cobble-stoned streets of the river town of Yangshuo. Visit the Cave of Reed Flutes on your return drive to Guilin. In the evening, you can choose to book into one of the excellent cultural shows performed either on the Li River or at the Sun and Moon Pagodas. Spend the night in Guilin.

DAY08:

GUILIN - SHANGHAI
Visit Elephant Trunk Hill, an iconic mountain in Guilin City before leaving to travel to the airport to catch a flight to Shanghai. In the afternoon, visit Shanghai’s Old Town and Yu Yuan, Garden of Happiness. Spend the night in Shanghai.

DAY09:

SHANGHAI
Learn about the town’s long history of trade and recent construction of the new districts at the Shanghai History Museum. View the city from 263 metres above the ground from the viewing platform of the Pearl Orient Tower. Return to the south bank of the river to discover the grandeur of former French Concession. Search for exotic street food on Nanjing Street. Stroll along the famous Bund, by the Huangpu River, before travelling to the airport for a flight to your next destination.
