DAY01:

CHENGDU
Arrive in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. The Chinese call Sichuan the Heavenly Country because of its resources and its rich cultural history. Visit the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, only 20 kilometres from Chengdu. See baby pandas and learn more about this unique animal including efforts to preserve its habitat. Back in town, your guide will introduce you to Sichuan specialty dishes and the medicinal and nutritional properties they possess. Spend the night in Chengdu.

DAY02:

CHENGDU – LESHAN
Have an early breakfast and drive to Leshan, about 165 kilometres from Chengdu. Visit the world's largest Buddha, Da Fo, which dates back over 1,300 years. View the 71-metre high Buddha carved into a cliff overlooking the Dadu River and the Min River. Take a boat cruise to appreciate the true enormity of the statue. Be introduced to new tofu dishes, a Leshan specialty. Spend the night in Leshan.

DAY03:

LESHAN - WUTONGQIAO – YIBIN
Discover Wutongqiao, an ancient village divided into three parts by two rivers, which is only 25 kilometres from Leshan. The three parts are connected by many bridges of different styles. Visit enchanting tea houses and old stores in the Old City of Luocheng whose culture has remained untouched for 500 years. Depart for the Chinese liquor region, Yibin, where they make a famous liquor called Wuliangye which has an alcohol base of five kinds of cereals. Spend the night in Yibin.

DAY04:

YIBIN – SHUNANZHUHAI
Travel to Shunanzhuhai or the Bamboo Sea in southern Sichuan. It is the largest reserve of bamboo, occupying an area of 120 square kilometres, where you will discover 58 different kinds of bamboo. Dine on various bamboo themed dishes such as bamboo shoots and mushrooms picked at the foot of bamboo. Spend the night in Shunanzhuhai.

DAY05:

SHUNANZHUHAI - JIANGAN – ZIGONG
Drive a short distance to Jiang'an. Visit an impressive collection of Ming residences, extending over an area of 68,000 square metres, with more than 120 houses. This is one of the largest architectural examples of Ming China, a true "living fossil" of ancient architecture. Travel on towards the ancient city of Zigong. For nearly 2,000 years, Zigong has been “the Capital of Salt" owing to its deep salt mines. You can also visit the famous Dinosaur Museum which features many fossils from the Jurassic Period. At night you can wander the streets to see the city’s third attraction, coloured lanterns. Spend the night in Zigong.

DAY06:

ZIGONG - CHENGDU
Visit the History Museum of Salt in Zigong. Travel back the 300 kilometres back to Chengdu on a modern expressway. Spend the night in Chengdu.

DAY07:

CHENGDU - DUJIANGYAN – CHENGDU
Learn the secrets of the Heavenly Country in Sichuan province by visiting the town of Dujiangyan, known for its 2,200 year old irrigation system. Return to Chengdu for an afternoon stroll through the old town of Chengdu. In the evening, enjoy a performance of Sichuan opera and Sichuan specialties. Spend the night in Chengdu.

DAY08:

CHENGDU
You are free to explore the town until your transfer to the airport and the flight to your next destination.
