DAY01:

ULAANBAATAR
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Visit the Bogd Khan Winter Palace, the former residence of the last king of Mongolia. After lunch, stroll across Chinggis Square, renamed in 2013 to honour Mongolia’s national hero known as Genghis Khan in the West. Visit the Gandan Monastery, the largest monastery in the country. The 26-metre copper statue of Buddha was consecrated in 1996 by the Dalai Lama so the temple is particularly revered by Mongolian pilgrims. Visit the cashmere shop and factory on site. Spend the night in Ulaanbaatar.

DAY02:

ULAANBAATAR -DUGANA
Drive 110 kilometres to Dugana, deep in the heart of Mongolia. This region has often been used for the filming of Mongolian films. Cross the Gorkhi-Dugana National Park, in a beautiful unique landscape of mountains rich in fauna and flora - see edelweiss fields and herds of yaks. You will have your first glimpse of nomads. Dugana arrival in camp. Lunch at the camp. You have time to discover the Mongolian arts such as archery and horseback riding out on the stunning scenery of the steppe. Spend a night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY03:

DUGANA - KHUSTAI - BAYANGOBI
Depart for Khustai National Park, a protected area since 1993, when the natural habitat of the famous Mongolian wild horse or Przewalski horse was restored inside the park’s boundaries. Travel on to Bayangobi. Spend a night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY04:

BAYANGOBI - UGII LAKE
The morning is dedicated to the discovery of the Khognu Khan Mountains region which is made up of several types of ecosystems: steppe, desert sand and lakes. Then visit the magnificent but isolated Khamba Monastery. Continue through the vast steppes to Lake Ugii, home to a large range of wildlife including many fish species and water birds. You have free time to admire the natural beauty. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY05:

LAKE UGII – TSENKHER
Reach Tsenkher situated in a beautiful mountain landscape. Lunch on arrival at the camp where there are hot springs. You have a whole afternoon free for bathing in the hot springs or hiking in the area. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY06:

TSENKHER - KHARKHORIN
Departure for Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire in the thirteenth century. Learn about the empire’s history in the excellent Kharkhorin Museum. Visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia founded in 1586 by Altai Khaan. Stop off at the Kul-Teginii Monument, a stone inscription which shows evidence of the dominance of the Turkic sultanate in the sixth to eighth centuries. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY07:

KHARKHORIN - SAIKHAN OVOO
Travel to the region of Saikhan Ovoo. Discover the ruins of the Ongui Monastery, which date back to 1760 and which hosted up to a thousand monks before being destroyed by the Russians in 1937. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY08:

SAIKHAN OVOO - BAYANZAG - KHONGOR
Drive to Bayanzag and see its unusual flowers which have adapted to a desert ecosystem. You will see a particular forest of Gobi trees that can reach 4 metres high. Take a camel ride to the Singing Dunes of Els Khongoryn which reach a height of 800 metres and extend for over 100 kilometres. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY09:

KHONGOR - SOUTH GOBI
Depart for South Gobi. Take an afternoon excursion in the Valley of the Eagles, an area protected by mountains up to 2,850 metres on some sides with a large glacier flowing through its valley floor. Go hiking to discover unique flora and fauna of the region. Spend the night in a comfortable yurt.

DAY10:

SOUTH GOBI - ULAANBAATAR
Transfer to the South Gobi Airport to fly back to Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon, you can do last minute shopping and purchase such goods as the famous Mongolian cashmere woolen shawls. In the evening, attend a wonderful folk show and be treated to a farewell dinner with traditional Mongolian vodka tasting. Spend the night in Ulaanbaatar.

DAY11:

ULAANBAATAR
Transfer to the airport or the train station for a connection to your next destination.
