DAY01:

BANGALORE
Arrive in Bangalore, dubbed the Silicon Valley of India because of its Information Technology industry. Spend the night in Bangalore.

DAY02:

BANGALORE - MYSORE
Depart for a Bangalore city tour. In the streets and avenues of colonial Bangalore, you will see the vast Cubbon Garden created in 1864 with its majestic trees and flower beds. Then view the Vidhan Soubha, a very beautiful neo-Dravidian style building from 1958 which houses the Parliament of Karnataka. In the afternoon, transfer to the West End for boarding formalities on the train Golden Chariot. You then have free time for a cultural show and a visit to a Hare Krishna temple. Transfer to the Yeshwantpur Railway Station and settle into your cabin with dinner served on board. Depart Bangalore at 9pm. Spend the night on board.

DAY03:

MYSORE - BANDIPUR - KABINI
Arrival in Mysore. Learn about the 600 year history of the Mysore Kingdom at the Mysore Palace. You will gain an insight into the splendor of ancient India: fluted pillars, minarets, cupolas, canopies bent and onion domes. Inside the palaces: grandiose rooms, massive gates wrought in silver and inlaid with precious stones, mahogany ceilings, domes of colored glass and a solid gold throne encrusted with diamonds. Depart by bus to the Kabini Jungle, located about 95 kilometres away. Take a jeep safari to explore the park. Enjoy a buffet dinner followed by time to relax around a bonfire. Spend the night at the jungle lodge in Kabini.

DAY04:

KABINI - MYSORE - HASSAN
Start off early to take a boat ride on the Kabini River and discover the birdlife of the jungle. Return to the lodge for breakfast then drive back to the train. In the afternoon, take an excursion to Srirangapatnam, the ancient capital of Sultan Tipu, known as the Tiger of Mysore for both his bravery and for his ferocity fighting against the British Empire. Visit Tipu’s summer palace at Dariya Daulat Bagh, located in extensive gardens near the banks of the Kaveri River. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a cultural show. At night, return to the Golden Chariot train. Spend the night on board.

DAY05:

HASSAN - HOSPET
Depart from Hassan early in the morning. Visit Halebid, where the Hoysaleshwara Temple, jointly dedicated to Lord Shiva and his divine consort Parvati, is sumptuously decorated with scenes showing the great epics of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Then discover Belur, which houses the Chennakeshava Temple, built in the twelfth century to celebrate the victory of the Hoysala kingdom over the Chola kingdom. By late afternoon, return to the Golden Chariot train. Enjoy dinner on board and depart for Hospet. Spend the night on board.

DAY06:

HOSPET - BADAMI
Take an excursion to Hampi, the capital of one of the last great kingdoms of South India, the Vijayanagara Dynasty which disappeared in the sixteenth century. In this vast and grandiose natural fortress lived more than half a million people. The kings of this empire were very rich thanks to trade in spices and cotton. They built temples and palaces that were the admiration of Muslims and European travelers between the fourteenth and sixteenth century. The empire was finally conquered in 1565 and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the late afternoon, stop on the banks of the Tungabhadra River to watch the sunset. Return for dinner on the train and spend the night on board.

DAY07:

BADAMI - GOA
Arrive in Badami. Depart for the Pattadakal temples, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of their Vesara architectural style, combining northern and southern Indian temple design. Explore Badami, the second capital of the kingdom of Chalukya. Visit caves with remarkable stone reliefs dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva, devoted to Buddhism or Jainism. Return to the Golden Chariot train and depart for Goa. Spend the night on board.

DAY08:

GOA - BANGALORE
Depart for a tour of Old Goa. The city was under Portuguese rule from 1510 till 1961. During the mid-16th century, Goa was the centre of Christianity in the Far East. Visit the famous churches of Goa and wander the streets. By late afternoon, return to the Golden Chariot train. Depart for Bangalore. Spend the night on board.

DAY09:

BANGALORE
Enjoy your breakfast on board. Arrive in Yeshwanthpur station in the late morning. Transfer to the Bangalore International Airport for a flight to your next destination.
