Pyongyang - Kaesong - Mount Myohyang

DAY01 (Monday):

BEIJING
Meet at the tour company office in Beijing and receive a briefing about North Korea.

DAY02 (Tuesday):

BEIJING - PYONGYANG
Take a three hour flight from Beijing to Pyongyang. Meet your tour guide and depart for a visit of the Mansudae Grand Monument, two giant statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il. Visitors are expected to lay flowers at the feet of the statues. See the Triumph Arch, 6 metres higher than the French monument it was modelled on. It was built in 1982 to commemorate independence from Japan after the Second World War. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

DAY03 (Wednesday):

PYONGYANG - KAESONG - PYONGYANG
Take the six-lane Reunification Highway down to the DMZ, the demilitarized zone near the border with South Korea. Visit the Kaesong Industrial Park where some factories have been operating as a collaborative economic project with South Korea. In the afternoon, visit the tomb of King Kongmin, a 13th century royal tomb nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Back in Pyongyang, see the modern subway system, the Pyongyang Metro, in operation and the 50-metre high Monument To the Founding of the Party which features the hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush symbolising the workers, farmers and intellectuals. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

DAY04 (Thursday):

PYONGYANG
Visit the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, which is the mausoleum of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and the Cemetery of the Martyrs of the Revolution where you will also be expected to lay flowers. Ride the elevator up to the top of the Juche tower, the highest stone monument in the world. In the afternoon, visit Mangyongdae, the birthplace of Kim Il-sung, a typical Korean peasant house with a thatched roof and a block of living rooms. Visit the Foreign Language Bookstore. Eat a duck specialty dish for dinner. Spend a night in Pyongyang.

DAY05 (Friday):

PYONGYANG - MOUNT MYOHYANG - PYONGYANG
Escape the city and drive out to Mount Myohyang, an area of great natural beauty. The mountain boasts the International Friendship Exhibition where thousands of gifts given to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are stored. In the afternoon, visit the six-kilometre long Ryongmun limestone caves. Return back to Pyongyang, visit a Schoolchildren’s Palace where talented children are trained in the arts. Play a game at the Gold Line Bowling Alley. Spend the night in Pyongyang.

DAY06:

PYONGYANG - BEIJING
Return by morning flight to Beijing.
