DAY01:

DELHI
Arrive in Delhi. Take a free afternoon to explore the city. Spend the night in Delhi.

DAY02:

DELHI - PARO - THIMPHU
Take a two-hour-and-fifteen-minute flight from Delhi to Paro. Visit the romantic ruins of Drukyel Dzong and a traditional farm. Spend the night in Paro.

DAY03:

PARO
Take a hike up to Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest. The famous mystic, Padma Sambhava who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, was said to have flown off the Taktsang cliff. Spend the night in Paro.

DAY04:

PARO - THIMPHU
Visit Simtokha Dzong, one of the oldest of Bhutan’s monasteries. Drive to the capital city of Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, which is for many Bhutanese people the focus of their daily worship. It was built in 1974 as a memorial to the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Spend the night in Thimphu.

DAY05:

THIMPHU
Visit the National Library, the Painting School, the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, the National Textiles Museum and the fortress of Trashi Chhoe. Spend the night in Thimphu.

DAY06:

THIMPHU - PUNAKHA
You will be taken on a guided tour of one of the most popular sights in Bhutan, Punakha Dzong. The second dzong to be built in Bhutan, it served as the capital and seat of government until it lost its position to Thimphu in 1955. Discover the village of Talo, which was once a royal summer palace. Spend the night in Punakha.

DAY07:

PUNAKHA - WANGDIPHODRANG
Take time to explore the massive Gangte Goemba monastery complex, which looks over the entire Phobjikha Valley. The extensive complex includes monks' quarters, a small guesthouse and outlying meditation centres. Spend the night in Wangdiphodrang.

DAY08:

WANGDIPHODRANG - PHOBJIKHA - TRONGSA
Head west into the Phobhjika Valley. Explore the Trongsa Dzong, set high above the Mangde River and often surrounded by mist and cloud. Spend the night in Trongsa.

DAY09:

TRONGSA - JAKAR
Travel further west to the Bumthang Valley, famous for its religious history and orange groves. Spend the night in Jakar.

DAY10:

JAKAR
Visit some of the country’s most sacred monasteries such as Jakar Dzong, Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang. Spend the night in Jakar.

DAY11:

JAKAR - MONGAR
Take a scenic drive through the mountains further west. In the afternoon, visit the Mongar Dzong and take a stroll around the local market. Spend the night in Mongar.

DAY12:

MONGAR - TRASHIGANG
Depart for the Trashigang Valley. Trashigang means Auspicious Mountain. Although isolated, this town welcomes travellers. Visit the Trashigang Dzong that overlooks the Drangme and Gamri rivers. The entire eastern region of Bhutan was governed from this monastery from late in the 17th century until the 20th century. Spend the night in Trashigang.

DAY13:

TRASHIGANG
Take a day excursion to Trashi Yangtse, a district which borders the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and has historically hosted cross-border trade. Tour the dzong, the Institute of Arts and Crafts and the Kora Chorten which is modelled on Boudha stupa in Kathmandu. Spend the night in Trashigang.

DAY14:

TASHIGANG - SAMDRUP JONGKHAR
Take a road to the South and the Indian border. Walk the small border town of Samdrup Jongkhar. Spend the night in Samdrup Jongkhar.

DAY15:

SAMDRUP JONGKHAR - GUWAHATI - DELHI
Depart for Guwahati, the capital of the Indian state of Assam. Take a flight to Delhi, the capital of India. Transfer to an international flight to your next destination.
