Chengdu - Emeishan - Dazu - Chongqing

DAY01:

Arrive in Chengdu by air or train. Drive to Mount Emei. Walk through peasant villages at the foot of the mountain then visit Fuhu Monastery, known for the Temple of the Reclining Tiger and Baoguo Monastery, known for the Temple of the Proclamation of the Kingdom. Spend the night at the food of Emei Shan.

DAY02:

EMEI SHAN
Breakfast at the hotel. Ascend to 3,000 metres at the top of Mount Emei by cable car. Discover some significant Buddhist pilgrim sites along the track to the summit. View the sunset from the top of the mountain before spending the night on Mount Emei.

DAY03:

EMEI SHAN - DAZU
Experience the serenity of sunrise among the pilgrims before descending from the mountain. Drive to the city of Leshan which boasts the tallest Buddha in China at 71 metres high. The Giant Buddha is known as Da Fo and was built at the intersection of the Dadu and Min Rivers more than a thousand years ago. Enjoy a cruise to the Buddha’s feet before walking around the enormous statute. You can get up close to the Buddha’s face if you brave a steep set of stairs. Spend the night in the regional centre of Dazu.

DAY04:

DAZU - CHONGQING
Discover the sculptures of North Hill (Beishan) and Baoding Hill (Baoding Shan). These are the two most extraordinary sites within the extensive Dazu Buddhist art preservation area. Some rock art features original paintwork including spectacular blue, green and red pigments. Spend the night in Chongqing.

DAY05:

CHONGQING
You are free to discover the fast growing city of Chongqing, the resettlement site for many people after the Three Gorges Dam was constructed. Depart for the next destination.
