Kuching - Batang - Mulu

DAY01:

KUCHING
Arrive in Kuching and after checking into your hotel, depart for a city tour. Visit Chinatown, the colorful Chinese Tua Pek Kong Temple, the famous Sarawak Museum and the gigantic Cat Statute (kuching means "cat" in Malay). In the afternoon, see the mosque with a golden dome and wander in Old Kuching through narrow crowded streets past spice dealers and textile shops. Then cross the river to explore Astana, the former residence of the White Rajah. Spend the night in Kuching.

DAY02:

KUCHING - BATANG
Take the scenic route to Batang Ai National Park. On the way, you will visit the colorful and vibrant market at Serian where fishermen and farmers gather. After lunch, take a 30-minute boat ride to the Batang Ai Lake and settle into your hotel which has been modelled on local longhouses and is located in an exceptional setting along the lake. Several rare and protected animals live in the jungle surrounding the 24 square kilometre lake created by a hydroelectric scheme. Spend the night in Batang.

DAY03:

BATANG
Canoe up the river to reach a village of the Iban tribe. Observe their daily life and learn more about their traditions. See ancient human skulls hanging along the longhouses. They are "trophies" collected during the Iban ancestors’ time. Enjoy a free afternoon to enjoy the pool or take a walk in the surrounding jungle. You may see orangutans, gibbons and hornbills. Spend a night in Batang.

DAY04:

BATANG AI - KUCHING
Drive towards Kuching. Before arriving in the city, visit a pottery factory. Spend the night in Kuching.

DAY05:

KUCHING - MULU
Enjoy free time before your transfer to Kuching airport for your flight to Mulu. After checking into your hotel, depart for a three-kilometre hike to visit the Deer and Lang Caves in the Mulu National Park. You may be lucky even to see a large column of bats coming out of the caves at sunset. Spend the night in Mulu.

DAY06:

MULU
Take a boat to Batu Bungan to meet villagers from the Penan tribe. Return to the boat to discover Wind Cave, then continue on to Clearwater Cave, the longest cave in Asia at 107 kilometres. First wander down the boardwalks and floating bridges inside the cave. Then retire to the picnic area to swim in the clear, cool water. Spend the night in Mulu.

DAY07:

MULU
Transfer to Mulu airport for your return domestic flight to Kuching and then connect to an international flight to your next destination.
